
About Brittany Harrington
Brittany Harrington is a versatile bassoonist, dedicated educator, and creative performer whose artistry and innovation have earned her wide acclaim. The Dallas Morning News praised her playing, writing, “Special praise goes to Brittany Harrington’s gorgeously intoned, eloquently shaped bassoon solos.” She currently serves as Affiliate Artist/Faculty at the University of Puget Sound and is an active freelance musician in the Pacific Northwest. Brittany performs regularly with ensembles including the Seattle Symphony Orchestra, Seattle Opera, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Seattle Music Recording Ensemble, and The Sound Ensemble, and she is a Performing Artist with the Ladies Musical Club of Seattle. Recent highlights include serving as principal bassoonist with the Bellingham Music Festival and performing with the Britt Festival Orchestra.
Brittany is a founding member of the internationally acclaimed Breaking Winds Bassoon Quartet, known for its imaginative blend of classical music, pop culture, and genre-defying performance. The quartet’s viral success launched an international career featuring performances and masterclasses across the U.S., Asia, Europe, and Canada, features on NPR and MTV, multiple album releases, and nearly four million YouTube views. She is also a member of the newly formed quintet Wind Advisory, which uses accessible repertoire to support community-focused causes.
Deeply committed to bridging the gap between traditional classical training and creative, student-driven music making, Brittany fosters environments where young musicians are empowered to explore, take risks, and find their own artistic voices. Beyond ensemble work, she is an active soloist, recording artist, arranger, and Fox Sponsored Artist, dedicated to expressive, engaging, and deeply connective musicianship.
Education
Brittany Harrington offers private bassoon instruction throughout the Pacific Northwest for students at all levels—from beginners discovering the instrument to advanced musicians preparing for collegiate study and professional careers. Lessons are available through her private studio or at the university level at University of Puget Sound, where she serves as Affiliate Artist/Faculty.
With over fifteen years of teaching experience, Brittany has worked extensively with youth orchestras, collegiate musicians, and adult amateurs, and she is a sought-after clinician and masterclass instructor across the region. Her teaching emphasizes strong fundamentals, healthy technique, musical confidence, and creativity, while meeting each student where they are. Drawing from her diverse performance career and chamber music background, Brittany is passionate about helping students bridge the gap between classical training and expressive, joyful music-making.
